About the role

This interview covers the power chain that keeps telecoms equipment available when grid supply fails. The panel wants electrical fundamentals, a safe diagnostic sequence and evidence that you can maintain batteries, rectifiers and generators without losing accurate site records.

How to prepare

  1. Draw the power path from incoming supply through changeover, generator, rectifier, batteries and DC load.
  2. Revise safe isolation, test equipment checks and hazards around batteries and generators.
  3. Prepare a method for investigating low battery autonomy or repeated generator alarms.
  4. Review the readings and observations captured during preventive maintenance.
  5. Practise explaining how you would distinguish a load problem from a charging problem.

Common mistakes

  • Approaching a live cabinet without describing isolation and testing controls.
  • Replacing batteries before checking the charger, load and environment.
  • Giving generator advice without considering the DC system it supports.
  • Leaving measured values and defects out of the maintenance record.
