About the role

This interview tests how you keep telecoms sites powered and structurally safe through unreliable supply, harsh weather and field constraints. The panel wants sound power calculations, preventive thinking, firm safety judgement and evidence that contractor work is checked rather than simply reported complete.

How to prepare

  1. Review the power path from utility or generator through changeover, rectifier, batteries and direct-current loads.
  2. Prepare an example of a repeat site failure you traced to its underlying cause.
  3. Revise battery health, generator loading, fuel controls, earthing and lightning protection checks.
  4. Think through tower inspection findings that require immediate restriction or escalation.
  5. Practise prioritising preventive work across sites with different traffic and power risks.

Common mistakes

  • Replacing batteries without investigating charging, temperature, load or discharge history.
  • Treating tower and earthing defects as routine maintenance regardless of immediate risk.
  • Accepting contractor closure without alarm clearance, readings or physical verification.
