Open your invitation
Open the link in your invitation email and choose Continue on the web. You can also enter your interview code or personal passcode.

Sign up or log in
Interviews need a free Intaviu account. The room asks you to sign up or log in, then brings you straight back.

Check your devices
Check your microphone, and your camera if the interview creator asks for one, then start when you're ready.

What happens on your device

The room is the same interview as the desktop app, built to run in a browser.

The interviewer's voice

The voice is produced in your browser. The first time, it downloads once (about 60 MB on a phone, about 330 MB on a computer, or a lighter 60 MB version you can choose at the device check) and is kept for next time.

Your answers

Your speech is turned into text by your browser's own speech recognition, or on your device where the browser has none. Intaviu receives the text, never recordings of your voice or your camera picture.

Typing instead

Open the transcript panel to read along or type an answer. If the interview creator allows it, you can share files there too: PDF, Word, text or images, up to 10 MB each.

If the connection drops

Stay on the page. The room reconnects on its own and your answers so far are saved.

What you need

An up-to-date Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox, on a computer or phone.
A microphone. Headphones help. A camera only if the interview creator asks for one.
Keep the page open and in front until you finish.
Some interviews are open only in certain places. For those, the room asks your browser for your location before you start.
Video interviews show the interviewer's photo instead of the live video on a phone, to save mobile data.

When to use the app

The Intaviu app for macOS, Windows and Linux gives the smoothest interview, with the voice the interview creator chose, and turns your speech into text on your computer. Some interview creators keep an interview to the app: the invitation page says so, and on a phone it asks you to use a computer.
