For candidates

Do I need an account?
Yes, a free Intaviu account. Sign up with the email address your invitation went to, then open the link from your invitation and take it in your browser, or enter your code in the free Intaviu app. Your account keeps every interview in one place, with where each one stands. If your invitation has a personal passcode, your details are already filled in: check them and start.
What do I need?
A quiet room, a microphone and either an up-to-date browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox, on a computer or phone) or the Intaviu app for macOS, Windows or Linux. Headphones help. A camera is optional unless the interview creator asks for one: you'll see that before you start. The interview takes as long as the interview creator set, usually 10 to 30 minutes.
Should I use my browser or the app?
Either works unless your invitation says the interview needs the app. The browser needs nothing installed: the first time, it downloads the interviewer's voice once (about 60 MB on a phone, about 330 MB on a computer, or choose the lighter 60 MB version at the device check) and keeps it for next time. Keep the page open and in front until you finish. The app gives the smoothest interview, with the voice the interview creator chose, and turns your speech into text on your computer.
What's the difference between audio and video interviews?
In an audio interview you hear the interviewer and see their photo. In a video interview the interviewer appears on camera and speaks to you in real time, so a steady internet connection helps. If the video can't connect, the interview carries on by voice and nothing changes for your answers. Your invitation says which one you have. On a phone, a video interview shows the interviewer's photo instead of the live video, to save mobile data.
When does the interview close?
Your invitation and the app show the closing date and time, in the interview creator's time zone and in yours. After that, the link and code stop working, so start with enough time to finish.
Is it recorded?
No. Your video stays on your device and nothing is recorded. In the app your speech is turned into text on your computer; in a browser, your browser's speech service does it. The interview creator receives the text transcript and an AI-assisted evaluation. Read the privacy notice.
Can I share my CV or other files?
If the interview creator allows it, use the paperclip in the transcript panel. You can share up to 5 files: PDF, Word, text or images, up to 10 MB each. The interviewer reads PDFs, Word and text files and can ask about them. Every file you share goes to the interview creator with your transcript.
Can I pause, repeat a question or type instead?
Ask the interviewer to repeat or rephrase anything. You can also open the transcript panel and type an answer if speaking is difficult.
What happens if my camera or microphone turns off?
If the interview creator requires it, the interview pauses until it's back on. The clock stops while it's paused, so you don't lose time. The interview creator sees when and for how long it was off.
My connection dropped. What now?
Stay on the page or in the app. It reconnects on its own and your answers so far are saved. If it doesn't, rejoin with the same code or passcode and the same email.
When will I hear back?
The interview creator reviews every interview and contacts you by email. Intaviu doesn't make the decision.
Do practice runs come with feedback?
Yes, on Plus, Pro and Premium: your overall score, a score for each area with quotes from your answers, what worked, what to work on and a tip for each area. On Free you take practice runs and keep their transcripts, and moving to a paid plan unlocks the insights for your earlier runs too. Practice is private: interview creators never see it.

For teams

How do I create my first interview?
Go to Interviews, choose New interview, paste a description and let Intaviu draft the questions and rubric. Edit anything, publish, then share the link, invite candidates by email or add them one by one.
What's the difference between open and closed interviews?
Anyone with an open interview's link or code can take it and enters their own details. A closed interview takes only the candidates you add: each gets a personal passcode, and the app fills in their details when they enter it. Choose either in the interview editor.
Can candidates take interviews on their phone?
Yes. Candidates can take interviews in their browser on a computer or phone, or in the Intaviu app, so nobody has to install anything. To keep an interview to the app, set Where candidates can take it to App only under Advanced settings: the invitation page then asks for the app, and on a phone for a computer. Each candidate's page shows where they took it.
Can the interviewer read a candidate's CV or other files?
Yes. Add PDF or Word files when you add the candidate, or later from their page. The interviewer reads them and asks about real experience, treating them as information, never as instructions. Images are kept for your team only. You can also let candidates share files during the interview, under Advanced settings.
Can I require a camera or microphone?
Yes, under Advanced settings in the interview editor. Candidates can't start without them, and if one turns off during the interview, it pauses until it's back. Paused time doesn't count toward the interview length, and the candidate's page shows each gap.
How do video interviews work?
Choose Video as the interview format in the interview editor and pick one of the video interviewers. A video interview only starts with the presenter when your credits cover all of it; otherwise it runs as audio, and nothing changes for the candidate's answers.
What are credits, and what does an interview cost?
Interviews are paid by the minute of conversation: 10 credits a minute for audio, 120 for video. A 15-minute interview uses about 160 credits as audio or 1,920 on video, and paused time doesn't count. Your plan includes credits each month (20,000 on Growth, 70,000 on Scale); they don't carry over. For more, buy credits from Billing by card, bank transfer or USSD, any amount from ₦10,000 at ₦30 for every 10 credits; ₦50,000 or more adds 5% and ₦200,000 or more adds 10%. Bought credits last 12 months from your latest top-up.
Which time zone is the closing date in?
The one you pick for the interview, West Africa Time unless you change it. Invitations, reminders and the app show the closing time in that zone, and the app adds the candidate's own time when it differs.
How is scoring done?
Each competency in your rubric is scored 1 to 5 with quotes from the transcript as evidence. The overall score is the weighted average on a 10-point scale. Use Rescore on a candidate after changing the rubric.
Can I try the interview myself?
Yes. In the desktop app, open an interview and choose Practice interview. Practice runs never count toward your monthly interviews.
How do I pay?
From Billing, choose a plan and pay by card through Paystack. Prices are in naira and include VAT. Talk to sales for invoicing or bank transfer.
How do I delete a candidate's data?
Open the candidate, choose the more menu, then Delete candidate data. It's removed permanently.
