About the role

This interview tests how you turn sales information into a practical short-term demand view for FMCG products. The panel wants careful analysis, sensible assumptions and early communication when the numbers point to a shortage or excess stock.

How to prepare

  1. Practise cleaning a small sales dataset and calculating simple averages, trends and promotion uplifts in Excel.
  2. Review how seasonality, distribution changes, pricing and promotions can affect an FMCG forecast.
  3. Prepare an example of finding an error or unusual value in a dataset and correcting it.
  4. Think through how you would flag a likely shortage without presenting an uncertain forecast as a fact.

Common mistakes

  • Treating a promotion spike as normal demand without checking its cause.
  • Changing a forecast without recording the assumption behind the change.
  • Focusing on spreadsheet formulas while ignoring the stock decision the forecast supports.
