About the role
A supply chain analyst uses data to help a business buy, store and move goods at the right cost and time. Day to day you forecast demand, track stock levels, measure supplier performance and turn your findings into reports managers act on. The panel is deciding whether your analysis leads to better decisions.
How to prepare
- Prepare one or two examples where your analysis cut costs, reduced stockouts or improved a supplier's delivery.
- Brush up on your spreadsheet skills, especially lookups, pivot tables and simple forecasting.
- Be ready to explain key terms such as lead time, safety stock and stock turns in plain words.
- Think about how currency swings and import delays affect stock planning for local businesses.
- Practise presenting a finding in two or three sentences for a manager who has little time.
Common mistakes
- Describing tools you used without explaining what decision your work changed.
- Getting lost in detail when asked to summarise a finding quickly.
- Ignoring the practical side of supply, such as supplier relationships and warehouse limits.
