About the role
A VAS support engineer keeps services such as SMS, USSD, content and charging integrations available. The panel is testing whether you can follow a transaction across systems, use technical evidence safely and coordinate recovery without exposing subscriber data.
How to prepare
- Map a typical USSD or SMS request from the subscriber through network and application components.
- Revise HTTP responses, API timeouts, log correlation and simple read-only SQL queries.
- Prepare an example of troubleshooting a fault by narrowing the possible failure points.
- Think through how you would protect credentials and subscriber information in logs and tickets.
- Practise an incident update that separates confirmed facts from working theories.
Common mistakes
- Blaming the network or an external partner before tracing the request.
- Suggesting unrestricted database changes as an early diagnostic step.
- Copying subscriber details, tokens or passwords into a ticket.
- Describing tools without explaining what evidence each tool would provide.
