About the role
This interview covers dealing in foreign exchange and short-term money markets within defined risk limits. The panel wants to hear how you form a market view, price and execute trades, manage liquidity and remain precise when prices move quickly.
How to prepare
- Review the drivers of short-term interest rates, currency demand and system liquidity.
- Prepare a trading example that shows your market view, execution choice and risk control.
- Practise explaining bid, offer, spread, position and profit or loss in plain language.
- Think through responses to a limit breach, failed deal confirmation or counterparty concern.
- Review how deal tickets and confirmations support accurate treasury records.
Common mistakes
- Describing a profitable trade without explaining the risk taken to achieve it.
- Continuing to hold a losing position because you expect the market to reverse.
- Treating confirmations and deal records as back-office responsibilities only.
