About the role
This interview tests how you turn store orders into workable vehicle routes and delivery schedules. The panel will look for sound capacity decisions, confident use of transport data and calm replanning when traffic, breakdowns or late order changes disrupt the day.
How to prepare
- Practise explaining how you convert orders, vehicle capacity and delivery windows into a daily route plan.
- Review measures such as vehicle utilisation, on-time delivery, distance per drop and transport cost per delivery.
- Prepare an example of a breakdown, road closure or late order that required rapid replanning.
- Be ready to describe how you check route and order data before releasing a plan.
- Think through how you balance service priorities with driver hours, loading capacity and transport cost.
Common mistakes
- Optimising distance while ignoring delivery windows, loading constraints or vehicle capacity.
- Quoting route results without explaining the data and assumptions behind them.
- Accepting every urgent change without showing how it affects other deliveries and costs.
