About the role
This interview tests your day-to-day control of truck movements from dispatch through delivery and return. The panel wants evidence that you can balance customer time windows, driver safety, vehicle availability and costs when road or site conditions disrupt the plan.
How to prepare
- Prepare a dispatch example involving competing loads, limited trucks or tight customer windows.
- Review the information you confirm before assigning a vehicle and driver to a trip.
- Think through your response to a breakdown, severe traffic delay or rejected delivery.
- Be ready to explain how you track fuel use, turnaround time, empty distance and failed trips.
- Practise describing how you challenge an unsafe driver decision without losing operational control.
Common mistakes
- Assigning a truck without checking roadworthiness, driver readiness and cargo suitability.
- Treating unsafe driving or skipped rest as an acceptable way to recover a delay.
- Explaining fuel variance without checking distance, load, idle time and supporting records.
- Focusing on departure time while ignoring loading and offloading turnaround.
