About the role
An entry-level site supervisor helps organise daily construction activities and checks that crews follow drawings, quality requirements and safe methods. The interviewer wants practical judgement, clear instructions, accurate reporting and the confidence to stop or escalate work when something is wrong.
How to prepare
- Review how to brief a crew on the day's task, sequence, quality checks and hazards.
- Prepare an example of spotting poor workmanship or an unsafe condition.
- Revise how to read basic plans, dimensions, levels and drawing revisions.
- Think through how you would record labour, materials, progress and delays in a site diary.
- Practise explaining how you would correct a worker respectfully while keeping the task moving.
Common mistakes
- Allowing work to continue when the drawing or instruction is unclear.
- Treating safety checks as the HSE team's responsibility alone.
- Correcting workers aggressively instead of giving clear reasons and instructions.
- Reporting that work is complete without checking its quality.
