About the role
This is an internship interview for someone beginning practical safety work in a manufacturing plant. The panel is not expecting you to know every machine. It is looking for careful observation, willingness to learn, accurate records and the judgement to ask or escalate when a task may be unsafe.
How to prepare
- Review common plant hazards such as moving machinery, noise, electricity, chemicals and manual handling.
- Prepare a university, placement or volunteer example that shows careful observation.
- Practise describing the difference between a hazard, a risk and a control.
- Think through how you would record an observation without blaming the worker involved.
- Plan a clear safety message you could deliver in a brief toolbox talk.
Common mistakes
- Pretending to understand a machine or procedure when you need guidance.
- Reporting opinions as facts instead of describing what you observed.
- Ignoring a concern because the person involved has more experience.
- Reciting definitions without applying them to a plant situation.
