About the role
This interview covers installation and fault finding across water supply, sanitary fittings and drainage systems. The panel is checking whether you diagnose problems logically, choose appropriate materials, protect occupied premises and explain repairs clearly to clients.
How to prepare
- Review pipe materials, jointing methods and the situations each is suited to.
- Prepare examples involving a concealed leak, poor pressure and a recurring blockage.
- Practise explaining how you test water and waste pipework before concealment.
- Think through how you protect an occupied property during an emergency repair.
- Be ready to describe what you record when handing completed work back to a client.
Common mistakes
- Choosing materials only by price without considering pressure, temperature or compatibility.
