About the role
This interview tests your ability to install, maintain and diagnose air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment methodically. The interviewer wants technicians who take reliable readings, work safely, find root causes and leave clear service information for clients and colleagues.
How to prepare
- Review the refrigeration cycle and the measurements that help distinguish common faults.
- Prepare a difficult cooling fault and explain each test that narrowed down the cause.
- Revise safe isolation, pressure hazards, refrigerant handling and work-at-height controls.
- Think through a standard preventive-maintenance visit from arrival to handover.
- Be ready to explain how poor airflow can resemble a refrigeration fault.
Common mistakes
- Treating every loss of cooling as a reason to add refrigerant.
- Replacing components before confirming the fault with measurements.
- Ignoring airflow, condensate drainage or operating conditions.
