About the role
This interview tests your readiness to monitor pipeline condition, inspect the route and respond safely to abnormal reports. The panel expects careful location information, respect for isolation authority and useful records that maintenance and integrity teams can act on.
How to prepare
- Revise how pressure and flow trends can indicate restriction, instrument error or possible loss of containment.
- Learn what to observe during right of way, valve station and line marker inspections.
- Review the first priorities for a suspected leak, including keeping people away and communicating the location.
- Prepare an example of recording a defect and ensuring that another person followed it up.
- Practise describing pipeline locations clearly using approved markers and site references.
Common mistakes
- Approaching a suspected leak before the area has been assessed and controlled.
- Operating an isolation valve without authorisation or confirmation of the correct line and consequence.
- Writing vague patrol notes that do not identify the exact location, condition or action taken.
