About the role
This interview covers accountability for the condition and safe operation of pipeline systems. The panel will look for threat based thinking, understanding of inspection limitations, defensible repair decisions and the leadership to act when production and integrity priorities conflict.
How to prepare
- Prepare an example of assessing a significant defect from detection through repair or acceptance.
- Review corrosion, cracking, geohazards, third party damage and unauthorised interference as pipeline threats.
- Think through inspection selection, validation digs, data alignment and confidence limits.
- Prepare a case where you imposed an operating restriction or challenged a deferment.
- Practise explaining integrity risk clearly to operations and executive stakeholders.
Common mistakes
- Treating an inspection tool output as certain without considering detection and sizing limits.
- Prioritising work only by defect count rather than likelihood and consequence.
- Accepting repair deferral without explicit controls, ownership and review criteria.
