About the role
This interview tests whether you can support a pipeline from design and construction through operation and integrity management. The panel wants defensible calculations, careful interpretation of inspection findings and calm coordination when field conditions or test results differ from the plan.
How to prepare
- Review steady-state hydraulics, surge, pressure containment and material selection.
- Prepare an integrity case involving corrosion, cracking, deformation or third-party damage.
- Revise welding controls, non-destructive testing, hydrotesting and commissioning boundaries.
- Choose an example where route or constructability information forced a design review.
- Be ready to explain how you rank anomalies when inspection accuracy and operating data are uncertain.
Common mistakes
- Treating an inspection value as exact without considering tool tolerance and field verification.
- Ranking defects by depth alone while ignoring interaction, location and loading.
- Accepting a route or construction change without checking design and operating consequences.
- Discussing code compliance without explaining the engineering judgement applied.
