About the role

This interview is about making multiple building services work as one coordinated system. The panel will look for cross-discipline understanding, practical clash resolution, disciplined technical review and a commissioning approach that proves the building performs as intended.

How to prepare

1. 1Choose a building and explain the main mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and their dependencies.
2. 2Prepare a clash example where access, structure, ceiling space or drainage fall constrained the solution.
3. 3Review how you compare alternative equipment for capacity, power, controls, maintenance and space.
4. 4Think through the sequence from installation inspection to testing and integrated commissioning.
5. 5Prepare an example of managing a site deviation through review, instruction and close-out.

Common mistakes

• ✕Discussing each service separately without recognising shared loads, controls and spatial constraints.
• ✕Moving a clash in the model without checking access, drainage fall or structural implications.
• ✕Approving substitutions on capacity alone while ignoring efficiency, controls and maintenance.
• ✕Leaving integrated testing until completion without agreeing prerequisites and responsibilities.
