About the role
This interview tests how you design and deliver electrical systems for occupied buildings. The panel wants sound load calculations, practical power resilience, coordinated drawings and a disciplined approach to inspection and commissioning.
How to prepare
- Review how you build a load schedule and select cables, protective devices and distribution equipment.
- Prepare an example of coordinating electrical routes with architectural, structural and mechanical layouts.
- Revise generator, inverter, earthing, lightning protection and changeover design principles.
- Think through a fault or commissioning issue that you investigated on site.
- Check the official engineering body for any current registration rules relevant to the role.
Common mistakes
- Quoting rules of thumb without explaining the load assumptions behind them.
