About the role
A market research analyst turns business questions into sound studies and useful recommendations. The interview tests whether you can select methods, write neutral questions, protect fieldwork quality, analyse conflicting evidence and explain findings without overstating what the study proves.
How to prepare
- Choose a study you worked on and explain the business question, method, sample, analysis and decision it informed.
- Review common sources of sampling, questionnaire, interviewer and response bias.
- Practise comparing when to use surveys, interviews, focus groups, observation and secondary research.
- Prepare an example where you found a data-quality problem and decided what evidence could still be used.
- Rehearse turning a complicated result into one clear finding, its limitation and a practical recommendation.
Common mistakes
- Starting with a preferred method before clarifying the decision the research must support.
- Treating a large sample as protection against biased recruitment or poor questions.
- Presenting correlation, opinion or a small qualitative pattern as a proven cause.
