About the role
A consumer insights manager turns business questions into sound research and useful decisions. The panel wants evidence that you can select methods carefully, challenge weak data, understand behaviour in context and communicate a nuanced finding without losing the action that product, brand or commercial teams need.
How to prepare
- Choose a study where you reframed an unclear request into a researchable business question.
- Prepare an example of combining survey evidence with interviews, observation or existing commercial data.
- Review the sources of bias you check in questionnaires, samples, fieldwork and interpretation.
- Practise presenting a complex or contradictory finding as a clear decision with stated limitations.
- Think through how you assess research suppliers and respond when fieldwork quality is weak.
Common mistakes
- Starting with a preferred method before clarifying the business decision the research must support.
- Presenting correlation or stated intent as proof of what caused consumer behaviour.
- Reducing diverse consumers to broad labels without evidence about context or motivation.
- Hiding uncertainty to make a recommendation sound more decisive.
