About the role
This interview tests whether you can produce trustworthy evidence about teaching, learning or education programmes. The panel will examine your research choices, handling of participants and data, analytical caution and ability to make findings useful without claiming more than the evidence supports.
How to prepare
- Select a study you supported and be ready to justify its question, method, sample and limitations.
- Review common threats to education field data, including missing responses and inconsistent administration.
- Prepare an example of how you cleaned, analysed and interpreted a difficult dataset.
- Think through consent, confidentiality and secure handling of learner information.
- Practise summarising a nuanced finding for a busy programme or policy audience.
Common mistakes
- Choosing a method before defining the research question.
- Treating an association as proof that an intervention caused the result.
- Ignoring missing data, selection effects or inconsistent field procedures.
- Sharing participant details that should remain confidential.
