About the role
This interview tests whether you can deliver credible research beyond the office, where transport, language, connectivity and local expectations affect the plan. The panel is looking for ethical judgement, strong supervision, rapid quality checks and practical adaptations that do not quietly change the study.
How to prepare
- Map how you would move from a protocol to site plans, staffing, training, piloting and daily supervision.
- Prepare an example of finding a field data problem early and deciding whether records needed correction or exclusion.
- Review how you explain voluntary participation, confidentiality and escalation procedures to field teams.
- Think through data collection and communication arrangements for locations with limited connectivity.
- Prepare an example of resolving tension between a field team, a local stakeholder and the research design.
Common mistakes
- Treating community permission as a substitute for each participant's voluntary agreement.
- Waiting until fieldwork ends before reviewing patterns in the incoming data.
- Changing sampling or question wording informally without recording the decision.
- Assuming field staff understand a protocol after classroom training alone.
