About the role
An event producer brings the creative brief, technical production, venue operations, suppliers and guest experience into one executable plan. The panel is testing whether you can control scope, money, timing and safety while keeping stakeholders aligned. Strong candidates can also explain how decisions are made quickly once an event is live.
How to prepare
- Prepare a production timeline from supplier confirmation through build, rehearsal, show and breakdown.
- Review how you write a run of show and assign clear owners for cues and decisions.
- Prepare an example of controlling a budget when the brief or supplier costs changed.
- Think through power failure, late talent, weather, crowd pressure and delayed equipment responses.
- Revise how you run technical meetings and communicate with venues, sponsors and creative teams.
Common mistakes
- Describing the creative idea without showing how it becomes a workable production plan.
- Treating backup power, crowd flow or emergency access as venue problems only.
- Accepting late changes without recording their effect on cost, safety and timing.
- Giving instructions through several channels with no clear show-time authority.
