About the role
This interview tests whether you can identify corrosion threats, interpret imperfect monitoring evidence and recommend proportionate controls. The panel is looking for sound materials knowledge, careful use of inspection data and clear escalation when integrity margins are uncertain.
How to prepare
- Revise common internal, external and process-related corrosion mechanisms in oil and gas service.
- Prepare an example where monitoring methods gave different indications and explain how you resolved them.
- Review corrosion loops, inspection planning, chemical treatment, coatings and cathodic protection.
- Be ready to explain how a change in fluid or operating conditions affects an existing corrosion plan.
Common mistakes
- Using an average corrosion rate to dismiss evidence of localised damage.
- Recommending a chemical or material without defining how its performance will be verified.
- Presenting uncertain inspection data as precise remaining life.
