About the role
This interview is for an assistant who helps turn a fashion range into clear, attractive shop-floor and window displays. The panel is looking for visual judgement, careful execution, commercial awareness and a practical approach to changing displays while customers and deliveries are moving through the store.
How to prepare
- Review basic principles for grouping garments by colour, product story, height and focal point.
- Choose examples of displays you helped create and explain the brief, your contribution and what you changed.
- Practise describing how you would replace sold-out pieces without weakening the display story.
- Think through how you would balance a visual brief with stock levels and customer access.
- Prepare an example of completing detailed work with others under a short deadline.
Common mistakes
- Talking only about what looks attractive without considering stock availability or sales priorities.
- Forgetting practical checks such as prices, sizes, security tags and safe customer access.
- Claiming full credit for displays created by a wider store team.
- Giving vague answers that do not explain how you would set up or maintain a display.
