About the award
A social enterprise grant interview decides which ventures get funding to tackle a social problem while running as a business. The panel looks at the problem and the people affected, how your model earns money, evidence that your work is changing lives, how you will use the funds and whether your team can deliver.
How to prepare
- Describe the problem with a real example from the community you serve.
- Be ready to explain how the business earns money and how that keeps the impact going.
- Gather evidence of results, such as people served, outcomes tracked or feedback collected.
- Break down how the grant will be spent and what it will make possible.
- Think about how you measure impact and what you would do if the numbers fell.
Common mistakes
- Relying on emotional stories with no hard evidence of results.
- Depending entirely on grants with no path to earning income.
- Claiming impact that your organisation cannot measure.
