About the role
A senior manufacturing engineer turns product and production needs into safe, capable and maintainable processes. Interviewers will test your engineering depth, use of evidence, control of process changes and ability to influence production, quality, maintenance and suppliers.
How to prepare
- Prepare a process improvement example with the baseline, analysis, trial method and evidence of control.
- Review how you define equipment requirements, factory acceptance and site acceptance criteria.
- Practise explaining process capability and variation in practical production language.
- Choose an example where a design or tooling change threatened a launch commitment.
- Be ready to show how operator feedback changed an engineering solution.
Common mistakes
- Jumping to automation without defining the process problem and expected capability.
- Using improvement terminology without showing measurements, trials or engineering calculations.
- Treating production operators as recipients of a solution rather than sources of essential process knowledge.
