About the role
This interview tests your ability to prevent and respond to safeguarding concerns, with emphasis on protection from sexual exploitation and abuse. The panel is looking for safe allegation intake, strict information handling, practical prevention controls, effective learning and proportionate partner assurance.
How to prepare
- Review the organisation's published safeguarding and PSEA commitments before the interview.
- Prepare an example of identifying a safeguarding risk and strengthening the control around it.
- Practise explaining what you would record, what you would not investigate yourself and how you would escalate a concern.
- Think of ways to test staff understanding beyond attendance at training.
- Prepare an example of helping a partner close a safeguarding capacity gap.
Common mistakes
- Trying to investigate an allegation during intake instead of following the approved process.
- Sharing names or unnecessary details with managers who have no role in the response.
- Treating signed policies and attendance sheets as proof that controls work.
- Suspending all partner activity without first assessing immediate safety and proportionate action.
