About the audition
A runway model casting combines a short interview with observation of your walk and how you respond to adjustments. The team is assessing posture, garment awareness, composure, backstage conduct and whether you can meet fitting, rehearsal and show commitments reliably.
How to prepare
- Practise walking, stopping and turning on different floor lengths while keeping a steady sightline.
- Work on changing pace and energy when given a brief note.
- Consider how fabric shape, footwear and accessories should alter your movement.
- Confirm your measurements and availability for fittings, rehearsals and the show.
- Review safe ways to recover from a loose shoe, missed mark or garment problem.
Common mistakes
- Using an elaborate walk that competes with the garment.
- Ignoring a direction about pace, posture or energy.
- Handling a garment roughly when changing or walking.
- Treating dressers or other models as less important than the casting team.
