About the audition

An acting audition pre-screen is a first conversation before a full audition or callback. The casting team learns about your training and recent roles, how you approach a character, how well you take direction and whether you can commit to the rehearsal schedule.

How to prepare

  1. Have a short summary of your training and your two or three most recent roles.
  2. Pick one character you have played and be ready to explain how you built them.
  3. Practise taking a note and adjusting a line reading on the spot.
  4. Check your availability against the rehearsal and shoot dates before the call.

Common mistakes

  • Overstating your experience or listing roles you cannot talk about.
  • Agreeing to every date and then pulling out later.
  • Resisting direction or explaining why your first choice was right.
