About the role
This interview tests how you turn delivery demand and road constraints into routes that work outside a planning screen. The panel will look for sound modelling, disciplined use of data, operational judgement and the ability to win trust from dispatchers and drivers.
How to prepare
- Review how you model vehicle capacity, service times, delivery windows, road restrictions and driver hours.
- Prepare an example where route data disagreed with what drivers experienced and explain how you corrected it.
- Choose route performance measures that cover service, distance, utilisation, cost and safety.
- Practise explaining a routing trade-off to an operations leader without relying on technical jargon.
Common mistakes
- Treating the shortest route as the best route without considering time windows, vehicle limits or service risk.
- Blaming dispatchers or drivers for overrides before checking whether the plan reflects operating reality.
- Claiming savings without showing the baseline, data quality and effect on customers.
