About the role
This interview tests how you would move returned orders from receipt to inspection, refund or restocking. The panel is looking for accurate records, fair decisions, calm customer communication and an eye for patterns that cause repeat returns.
How to prepare
- Learn the usual stages of an e-commerce return, from collection or drop-off through inspection and final resolution.
- Prepare an example of checking an item, record or transaction carefully and correcting an error.
- Think through how you would distinguish customer damage, courier damage and an inaccurate product listing.
- Practise explaining a delayed refund to a frustrated customer without promising an outcome you cannot control.
- Review how return reason data can reveal problems in packaging, fulfilment, sizing or catalogue content.
Common mistakes
- Approving or rejecting a return before checking the order record, item condition and policy.
- Treating every return as a customer service issue and ignoring stock, seller or courier causes.
- Giving customers refund timelines that have not been confirmed.
- Recording vague return reasons that cannot support later analysis.
