About the role
This interview tests whether you can lead a production shift that meets the plan without trading away safety or product quality. The panel wants clear decisions on stoppages, non-conforming output, staffing and losses, backed by accurate shift information.
How to prepare
- Review how you set shift targets and monitor output, waste, downtime and quality checks.
- Prepare an example of containing a quality issue and protecting affected product.
- Think through how you respond when the plan is at risk but safe capacity cannot increase.
- Prepare a coaching example involving an experienced operator or repeated procedure gap.
- Be ready to explain a root cause improvement you sustained across shifts.
Common mistakes
- Describing output as the only measure of a successful shift.
- Restarting after a defect or unsafe condition without containment and authorisation.
- Blaming operators before checking standards, training, materials and equipment conditions.
