About the role
A product manager decides what a team builds next and why. Day to day you talk to users, study data, write clear problem statements, prioritise the roadmap and keep engineering, design and business teams pulling in the same direction. The panel is deciding whether you make sound calls with limited information and can get people behind them.
How to prepare
- Prepare two product stories with the problem, what you learned from users, the decision you made and the result in numbers.
- Practise prioritising a list of competing requests and explaining what you left out and why.
- Pick an app popular in Nigeria and be ready to discuss what you would improve for its users.
- Revise the metrics you have owned and how you separated real progress from vanity numbers.
- Think of a time you disagreed with a senior stakeholder and how you moved them with evidence.
Common mistakes
- Describing what the team did without showing the decisions you personally made.
- Jumping to solutions before understanding the user problem.
- Claiming impact numbers you cannot explain or link to your work.
