About the award
This fellowship interview selects people who have already taken practical action on a civic issue and can grow through a pan-African cohort. The panel looks for credible community results, shared leadership, ethical judgement and an ability to learn across different African contexts.
How to prepare
- Choose two civic projects and note your own decisions, the people involved and the results.
- Review how you sought consent, handled power differences and remained accountable to the community.
- Research comparable civic challenges in several African contexts without assuming the same solution fits everywhere.
- Prepare an example of changing course after community feedback.
- Check the programme's official information for current eligibility, selection stages and submission rules.
Common mistakes
- Speaking for a community instead of explaining how its members shaped the work.
- Claiming broad African relevance without showing what would change between contexts.
- Describing team achievements without making your own contribution clear.
