About the programme
This interview examines whether you can reason clearly about value, risk and financial decisions before starting advanced study. The panel is interested in quantitative readiness, awareness of how markets affect organisations, careful treatment of assumptions and a convincing purpose for the degree.
How to prepare
- Review time value of money, financial statements, risk and return, capital structure and basic valuation.
- Choose one financial model or analysis and identify its key assumptions and sensitivity to change.
- Follow a current market or economic development and trace its effect on a business decision.
- Practise explaining a finance concept to someone without specialist knowledge.
- Connect particular programme topics to gaps in your current knowledge and your intended work.
Common mistakes
- Memorising formulas without understanding the decisions they support.
- Presenting one valuation output as certain instead of discussing assumptions and sensitivity.
- Commenting on markets through headlines without tracing an effect on cash flow, risk or funding.
- Using a finance career label as motivation without explaining why the degree is needed.
