About the role
This interview tests how you turn company information into a defensible investment view. The panel will look for disciplined modelling, sound valuation choices, commercial curiosity and concise communication of risks and catalysts.
How to prepare
- Revise how the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement connect in a forecast model.
- Practise comparing discounted cash flow, precedent transaction and trading multiple approaches.
- Choose a listed company and form a balanced view on its earnings drivers, valuation and risks.
- Prepare an example of finding an inconsistency or weak assumption in financial information.
- Practise explaining an investment view in plain language before discussing model detail.
Common mistakes
- Giving a target value without explaining the assumptions that drive it.
- Treating management guidance as evidence without testing it against cash flow and sector conditions.
- Describing only the upside case and ignoring what could invalidate the view.
