About the role
This internship interview checks whether you can apply classroom process principles in a working mineral plant or test laboratory. The panel is looking for curiosity, careful sampling and calculations, respect for experienced operators and a strong instinct for safe working.
How to prepare
- Revise the purpose of crushing, grinding, classification and common separation stages.
- Practise a simple mass balance and explain what an impossible result would tell you.
- Review representative sampling, sample labelling and contamination control.
- Prepare an example of learning from a practical test that did not behave as expected.
- Study the hazards around moving machinery, slurry, reagents and poor housekeeping.
Common mistakes
- Reciting process definitions without connecting them to product size or separation performance.
- Ignoring an impossible calculation instead of checking measurements and units.
- Approaching live plant equipment without first following the required safety procedure.
