About the role
This interview focuses on preparing maintenance work so a power plant team can execute it safely and efficiently. The panel will look for structured job plans, sensible priorities, resource awareness and accurate work orders. At entry level, you are expected to understand the planning logic and coordinate with operations, stores and technicians rather than claim authority you do not have.
How to prepare
- Practise breaking a maintenance request into job steps, skills, tools, spares, estimated effort and completion checks.
- Review preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance and when each approach is useful.
- Revise equipment isolation, permit to work and the planner's coordination with operations and safety teams.
- Prepare an example of using Excel or another system to organise tasks, materials or deadlines.
- Think through how equipment criticality, production needs and resource availability affect a weekly schedule.
Common mistakes
- Confusing planning the content of a job with simply placing it on a calendar.
- Scheduling work before checking that labour, tools, spares and access are available.
- Leaving isolation and permit requirements for technicians to discover at the job site.
- Closing work orders without useful failure details, actual effort or follow-up actions.
