About the role
This interview is for an editor who owns both the story and the post-production operation. The panel is looking for mature edit judgement, consistent technical standards, calm delivery planning and evidence that you can raise the quality of other editors' work.
How to prepare
- Select two finished projects and map the editorial decisions that changed each story.
- Review your standards for sound, colour, captions, graphics, aspect ratios and final quality checks.
- Prepare an example of allocating several edits across a team with competing deadlines.
- Think through your backup, version control, review and project handover process.
- Practise explaining firm creative feedback without taking ownership away from another editor.
Common mistakes
- Talking only about software instead of the audience, story and brief.
- Claiming every creative decision without distinguishing your work from the team's work.
- Giving feedback as personal taste rather than a precise editorial or technical note.
- Ignoring backups, accessibility versions or final quality control when discussing delivery.
