About the role
This interview focuses on using ecommerce data to explain how a product category is performing. You may be asked to reason through sales, margin, traffic, conversion and stock signals, then recommend a practical next step. The panel values accurate analysis, commercial curiosity and clear communication more than complicated methods.
How to prepare
- Review common ecommerce measures including revenue, margin, conversion, average order value and cancellation rate.
- Practise cleaning a small product table and documenting the checks you applied.
- Build a simple category report that separates performance changes caused by traffic, price and availability.
- Prepare an example of explaining a numerical finding to someone without an analytics background.
- Revise basic forecasting approaches and how to state assumptions and uncertainty.
Common mistakes
- Reporting a change in a metric without investigating the reason behind it.
- Ignoring missing values, duplicate records or inconsistent definitions.
- Presenting a forecast as certain instead of explaining its assumptions.
