About the role
This interview tests whether you can improve availability without allowing working capital and obsolete stock to drift upwards. The panel will look for analytical judgement, practical inventory policies and the ability to settle competing priorities across planning, finance, procurement and operations.
How to prepare
- Review how safety stock, service levels, lead-time variability and order constraints affect replenishment decisions.
- Prepare an example where you separated a forecast problem from a supplier, master-data or execution problem.
- Practise explaining item segmentation and the different controls you would apply to stable, volatile and slow-moving stock.
- Think through how you would govern exceptions and prevent planners from overriding system parameters without evidence.
Common mistakes
- Treating all items alike instead of explaining meaningful segmentation.
- Blaming the forecast before checking lead times, master data and replenishment execution.
- Promising lower stock and better availability without showing the trade-offs and controls involved.
