About the role
This is a technical interview for an entry-level technician who supports reliable process measurement and control. The panel wants clear fundamentals, disciplined signal tracing, careful calibration records and the judgement to protect trips and other safety-critical functions.
How to prepare
- Revise pressure, temperature, flow and level measurement principles.
- Practise explaining a current-loop fault from the field device through the marshalling point to the control system.
- Review zero, span, tolerance, as-found and as-left calibration terms.
- Study the basic roles of control valves, positioners, alarms, interlocks, PLCs and SCADA.
- Prepare one practical example involving a multimeter, calibrator or loop diagram.
Common mistakes
- Changing several loop components at once without proving where the fault lies.
- Treating a trip bypass as a routine shortcut rather than a controlled plant risk.
- Giving calibration steps without recording the initial condition.
- Confusing the measured process variable with the electrical signal that represents it.
