About the role
This graduate interview tests whether you can connect engineering theory to the way a telecoms network delivers service. The panel is looking for sound fundamentals, careful fault finding, respect for site safety and the ability to learn vendor equipment without pretending to know what you have not used.
How to prepare
- Review the path a voice call or data session takes through the radio, transmission and core network.
- Practise isolating a fault by checking power, alarms, physical links and configuration in a sensible order.
- Revise basic radio concepts such as frequency, interference, signal strength and coverage.
- Prepare one academic or practical project that shows how you measured results and corrected a mistake.
- Review common hazards around towers, batteries, generators and live electrical equipment.
Common mistakes
- Naming network components without explaining how they connect to deliver a service.
- Jumping straight to replacing equipment before checking alarms and measurements.
- Claiming experience with vendor systems you have only read about.
- Treating safety as a formality instead of part of the engineering method.
