About the role
This interview tests graduate knowledge of generation, industrial distribution, motors and protection in an energy facility. The panel is looking for safe fault reasoning, accurate use of diagrams and calculations, and the judgement to seek authorisation before electrical intervention.
How to prepare
- Review three-phase power, transformers, motors, generators, power factor and common protection devices.
- Practise tracing supply paths and protection zones on a simple one-line diagram.
- Revise the safe sequence for isolation, proving dead and controlled restoration.
- Prepare a project example that compares calculated and measured electrical behaviour.
- Think through how unstable utility supply affects generator loading and changeover decisions.
Common mistakes
- Treating a breaker trip as a nuisance instead of evidence that must be investigated.
- Proposing work on electrical equipment without isolation and authorisation.
- Quoting formulas without connecting them to system behaviour or protection.
