About the role
This interview is for an internship supporting the movement of goods between shippers, carriers, agents and customers. The panel wants evidence that you understand the basic shipment journey, handle details carefully and can learn freight processes without hiding mistakes.
How to prepare
- Learn the roles of the shipper, consignee, carrier, freight forwarder and customs broker.
- Review the purpose of a commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading and air waybill.
- Practise explaining a simple import or export journey in the order that each handover happens.
- Prepare an example of checking detailed work and finding an error before submission.
- Think through how you would keep a customer informed when a schedule changes.
Common mistakes
- Confusing the freight forwarder with the carrier or customs authority.
- Guessing the meaning of an unfamiliar document or trade term instead of checking.
- Treating data entry as routine when one wrong name or quantity can delay a shipment.
