About the audition
A callback means the casting team wants to examine your fit for a supporting screen role more closely. They may test a different interpretation, framing or scene partner, while looking for detailed character work, camera awareness, continuity and a useful response to direction.
How to prepare
- Read the full context around your sides and identify your character's objective, obstacle and turning point.
- Rehearse choices that remain clear without relying on large gestures or excessive volume.
- Mark any physical actions so you can repeat them consistently across takes.
- Prepare an alternative interpretation in case the director asks for a contrasting choice.
- Check the casting instructions for framing, eyeline and any requested material.
Common mistakes
- Repeating the first audition exactly instead of responding to new information.
- Making every emotion large enough for a stage performance.
- Ignoring eyelines or changing physical actions between takes.
- Defending an original choice instead of trying the director's note fully.
