About the role
This interview tests whether you can turn geological and offset-well information into a safe, workable drilling plan. The panel will look for sound pressure reasoning, decisive well control responses and evidence that you can coordinate rig and service teams while managing cost.
How to prepare
- Review how you select casing seats, mud weights, hydraulics and operating limits from offset data.
- Prepare a clear example of diagnosing torque, drag, vibration, losses or stuck pipe.
- Rehearse the first actions and decision points for a suspected influx.
- Choose an example where a management of change process protected the well objective.
- Be ready to explain how you track drilling performance and challenge avoidable lost time.
Common mistakes
- Quoting rules of thumb without stating the data and uncertainty behind them.
- Jumping to a drilling response before confirming the well control indicators.
- Focusing only on rate of penetration while ignoring hole cleaning, vibration and well integrity.
