About the role
A DevOps intern supports the tools and routines that move code from a developer's machine into a working environment. The panel is checking your foundations in Linux, version control, pipelines, containers and cloud services. They also want safe judgement, a methodical response to failures and an eagerness to learn from review.
How to prepare
- Revise Linux processes, permissions, logs, environment variables and basic network checks.
- Build a small pipeline that tests and packages a simple application from a Git repository.
- Practise explaining the difference between a container image, a running container and a virtual machine.
- Review how secrets should be stored and supplied without committing them to source control.
- Prepare a troubleshooting story that shows your checks, evidence and final verification.
Common mistakes
- Naming tools without explaining what problem each one solves.
- Changing several settings at once and losing track of the cause.
- Treating a successful deployment as proof that the application is healthy.
- Putting credentials in code, screenshots or repository history.
